Begin with the full group

Stand far enough back to show the entire pile in one frame. If the items fill more than one room or area, take one wide photo of each location. Avoid a close crop that hides the quantity behind the front row.

  • Photograph each room or outdoor area
  • Keep all edges of the pile visible
  • Include loose bags and boxes. Add every small item.

Give large or unusual items their own photo

Take a separate picture of appliances, sleeper sofas, exercise machines, pianos, concrete, or anything especially heavy. Show damage or moisture. Add another photo for sharp edges and attachments. Photograph any label that identifies the item.

  • Add a familiar object for rough scale
  • Photograph utility connections or wall mounts
  • Show whether furniture separates into pieces

Finish with the carrying route

Photograph stairs and narrow doors. Show gates, elevators and slopes, then include the path to legal truck access. A clear route photo can explain more than a long description.

  • Show every flight of stairs and tight turn
  • Include the distance from the items to parking
  • Mention building access hours or elevator reservations
