Empty and clean the appliance
Remove food and dishes. Take out clothing, racks and trays, along with any loose parts. Wipe up standing water or residue. Secure doors only with a method that will not interfere with safe handling.
- Remove every loose item
- Defrost freezers early enough to drain
- Keep shelves and racks from shifting
Arrange safe disconnection
Water and gas connections should be disconnected before removal. The same applies to power and hardwired equipment. Use a qualified trade professional whenever the appliance, property rules, or connection type requires one. Do not cut, cap, or pull a connection you are not trained to handle.
- Close and check water supplies
- Confirm gas appliances are disconnected safely
- Identify hardwired equipment before pickup day
Clear the route and share the model details
Measure the appliance and the narrowest part of the route. Send a front photo and show the connections. Include any label that identifies the unit. Mention stairs and tight turns, plus elevators or flooring that needs protection.
- Move small objects and rugs
- Unlock gates and arrange building access
- Tell the crew about unusual weight or damage
